At an early age, my parents saw creative and artistic abilities in me that they encouraged in a variety of ways. I started taking drawing classes at the age of 12 and in high-school, I saved-up and purchased my first SLR camera. Soon afterwards, I had my own darkroom and was spending many hours experimenting with photography.

In college, I studied photography, sculpture and graphic design. I received a BFA from University of Georgia in 1984. Soon afterwards, the desktop publishing revolution came along and I eagerly embraced it. When Adobe released Photoshop in 1990, I began to learn how photographs could be edited and improved on a computer. Eventually, I no longer had a need for a physical darkroom because you could do so much more with keyboard and mouse.

My photos have been published in publications such as eye Magazine, Luxury Living Magazine, Savannah Morning News, Charlotte Business Journal, The Charlotte Observer, UNStudent Magazine (Cambridge University United Nations Association publication) and Sovereign Grace Magazine. I have been fortunate to receive awards from Print Magazine, Society of News Design and North Carolina Press Association.

My wife Cindy Homan has been photographing since an early age when she was trained by her grandfather, a Colonel and photographer for the U.S. Army. She has a strong eye for style and fashion and attentions to the details. She assists me on every wedding we photograph.

Our business, Homan Designs Photography, is based in Huntersville, N.C. and we serve the Charlotte-area and both Carolinas by providing a variety photography services, We specialize in wedding and event photography where we work as a team using the latest in digital photography equipment and portable studio. We own and use a variety of remote cameras to capture those hard-to-get images during wedding ceremonies and similar events. I also teach photography classes in the Charlotte area.

We offer a full-service web site where you can view proofs and purchase prints directly in a variety of sizes and products including canvas prints and products such as playing cards, t-shirts, postcards, ceramic mugs, photo key tags and more.
